Hello Again

We're here!!

I thought I'd give a quick update before my internet connection runs out (we pay for an hour of service at a time.)

Thursday evening we flew out. Friday we had a layover in Istanbul. It was starting to get dark and raining a bit when we arrived, so there was no time for sightseeing, but the bit that we saw made us want to return. We stayed in a very nice hotel, ate a delicious Turkish dinner, and headed out bright and early Saturday morning to finish our flight.

We arrived in the airport city yesterday, spent some time shopping for food, etc. at the most crowded shopping center I have ever been in. I will never complain about grocery shopping again! I couldn't even push the shopping cart- the wheels turn all directions, so when trying to head forward instead I was often veering right (and usually into a bunch of other shoppers.) aye aye aye!  (Elisha's favorite phrase. ;)

Our train was at 8pm last night, and 17 hours later, here we are. We were surprised to get off the train and see a friendly face- not our facilitator, but the wonderful doctor who accompanied us on our medicals. We hopped in the car and were told to be ready at 3:50pm, because we are heading to the orphanage today! We came a day early, and being the weekend, we weren't expecting this, so it's a nice surprise.

We are again checked into the same hotel we had last time. Different room, this one updated (but reeks of smoke... Illinois doesn't allow smoking in public places, so we are very sensitive to the smell now.) I actually miss our former room, as this one is a lot smaller, and we brought twice the luggage from last time, so we're, eh, a bit squished in here. But all in all, it's good to be back! Now... time to get ready to go see Elisha!!
